  • Champions for Children
    Champions for Children mission recognizes the need for quality childcare in the first five years of life to ensure that Smith County's youngest children are ready for school, not already behind when they enter kindergarten.  The agency provides training and on-site consultation, teacher mentoring, developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom resources to childcare teachers and providers in Smith County.   • Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County
    The Children’s Advocacy Center  of Smith County reduces trauma to abused children by maintaining an on-site team that investigates and prosecutes the abuser while providing services and counseling to the abused. (903) 533-1880

  • Children’s Medicine Fund
    The Children's Medicine Fund provides medicine needed by children treated at the Health District when they do not carry the medicine. The Smith County Health District Director is responsible for monitoring prescriptions written by physicians for indigent or needy children.

    The East Texas Crisis Center provides crisis intervention and safety to victims of family violence, sexual assault and violent crime. The Crisis Center also provides a 24-hour Hotline for families seeking help.

  • East Texas Treatment Center
    East Texas Treatment Center’s mission is to restore patients to their possible level of independence within the limits of their disability by providing quality therapy services. This service is done regardless of the patient’s financial situation. Services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy as well as cardiac rehabilitation.

    Habitat for Humanity of Smith County, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing.  Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends.  Habitat houses are sold to those in need at no profit, through no-interest loans.  Habitat for Humanity of Smith County was founded in 1989 and has built 62 houses in the Smith County community, providing shelter for 77 adults and 135 children.
